What is normal behavior?
Adult Cottontail rabbits should run when approached by human beings and other predatory animals. A mother rabbit may run but will often remain nearby, waiting for danger to leave the area, so she can nurse her babies. Remove all pets and people from the area, giving the rabbit plenty of distance and space.
