How rejected bills sneak into “live” bills

The Amendment

This amendment is an example of what some legislators do at the end of session to put rejected bills onto other “live” bills. This is a golf course pesticides bill — and this senator (Miner) is trying to add his “nuisance” wildlife killing bill into it as an amendment.

Take note of “permits for the taking of such wildlife” in addition to “retain any wildlife taken”. This small addition allows for the “taking”/killing of wildlife as the landowner sees fit.

How do I humanely protect my bees, poultry and/or livestock?

The use of electric wire barriers is very helpful in keeping bears out of hives. For chickens and rabbits, a well-reinforced chicken coop or pen is essential. To protect young lambs or calves, guard dogs are extremely effective, or “shed lambing” — ie bringing animals inside before they give birth.
